Lama Tsong Khapa Institute

The Lama Tzong Khapa Institute is a center of Tibetan Buddhism, of the Mahayana tradition, located in Pomaia, in Tuscany. For over forty years he has been carrying out conservation, study, training and dissemination activities.

Since its foundation, many Tibetan Masters have taught at the Institute including His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama, His Holiness Sakya Trizin, Kyabje Yongzin Ling Rinpoche, Kyabje Serkong Tsenshab Rinpoche, Kyabje Song Rinpoche, Gomo Rinpoche, Dagri Rinpoche, Dakpa Rinpoche, Dagpo Rinpoche, Dagyab Rinpoche, Geshe Tashi Bum, Geshe Rabten, and many other great Masters, among them the founders of the Institute Lama Thubten Yeshe and Lama Zopa Rinpoche, the resident Masters of the past Geshe Yeshe Tobden, Geshe Ciampa Ghiatso and Khensur Ciampa Tegchok and current resident Masters Geshe Tenzin Tenphel and Geshe Jampa Gelek.

From 1976 onwards, the Institute has developed becoming on of the leading contemplation centers in Europe. As an international educational facility with residing teaching Tibetan monks from 1983 on, ILTK has attracted people with different backgrounds from all over the world, interested in exploring their understanding of the Buddha's teachings and of their own inner nature through the dedicated study of Buddhist practice and philosophy.

ILKT offers training in philosophy, psychology and meditation held by influent and qualified scholars that convey the Shakyamuni Buddha's (IV century B.C.) teachings in a continuous legacy, as well as arranging workshops and lectures on related themes and techniques. Courses range from the very short to the long duration, addressing both students, practitioners and anyone who may simply be interested in these topics in a non-professional fashion.

Since 2016 MSA has articulated its work also thanks to a scientific collaboration agreement between the Lama Tzong Khapa Institute and the University of Pisa, which provides for the possibility of jointly carrying out higher education activities, the recognition of training credits and thesis and research activities. This is the first experience of its kind in Europe.
The agreement has found expression in the first level University Master's Degree in "Neuroscience, Mindfulness and Contemplative Practices", now in its fifth edition, which sees the participation of scholars from both institutions. As teachers, there are in fact two of the most authoritative Tibetan Lamas: the Ven. Ghesce Tenzin Tenphel and Ghesce Jampa Gelek, who teach at the Institute, together with professors from the University of Pisa and external experts.
Officially established in 1343, the University of Pisa is one of the oldest and most prestigious international universities, with a broad and deep-rooted research and teaching experience in neuroscience and in biological, medical, psychological and humanistic disciplines.

FPMT

Acronym of Foundation for the Preservation of the Mahayana Tradition, the FPMT is an organization whose purpose is to preserve and spread Mahayana Buddhism throughout the world. Founded in 1975 by Lama Thubten Yeshe and Lama Thubten Zopa Rinpoche, both Tibetan monks, it has spread to all continents, with 165 centers distributed in 40 countries.
The heart of the FPMT is education, which aims to develop and nourish the compassion, wisdom, kindness and authentic happiness of all individuals, according to the inspiring principles of Buddha Shakyamuni.

Since its inception, UBI has set itself up as a union of centers and intends to support and represent the Buddhist movement as a whole while respecting all historical traditions.
Its aims are mainly to bring together and assist the various Italian Buddhist groups; contribute to the diffusion of the teachings and practices of the doctrine; develop collaboration between the various schools and foster dialogue with other religious communities and with cultural and academic institutions on topics of common interest; cultivate relationships with the European Buddhist Union, the World Federation of Buddhists and other international Buddhist organizations.
