Ven. Sonam Wangchuk

MSA Sonam Wangchuk
Sonam Wangchuk, from 1993 to 2010, studied five fundamental texts at Sera Jey Monastery. Subsequently, he decided to explore other Madhyamika traditions, including Nyima, Kargyu, Sakya, Jonang, and Bon. In 2013, he wrote a book titled Meditation, Emptiness, and Science. He had the honor of presenting this book to His Holiness the Dalai Lama, who greatly appreciated it. His Holiness also advised him to write a book related to tantra, which he completed in 2021 and offered to him. His Holiness further recommended that he be invited to Italy to teach at the Lama Tzong Khapa Institute. Indeed, he conducts meditation sessions and provides introductions to emptiness in Italy every year. Recently, he established a translation project called Rignes Kundu Yiggyur Khang (རིག་གནས་ཀུན་འདུས་ཡིག་སྒྱུར་ཁང་). This name was suggested by His Holiness. Through this project, 11 famous books have been successfully translated and printed in Tibet. This is a significant contribution to the Tibetan community in Tibet, and Sonam Wangchuk is proud of this project and hopes to continue. He is interested in the dialogue between Buddhism and science and is therefore pleased to engage with the themes of the MindScience Academy.
