Francesco Tormen is a lecturer in Tibetan language and literature at Ca' Foscari University of Venice, co-directs the Study Center of the Italian Buddhist Union, and is a member of the Coordinating Committee of the Master's program at the University of Padova, Contemplative Studies – Meditation Practice from Traditions to Contemporary. He teaches various subjects in this program. He is also a translator and interpreter of Tibetan and collaborates with various universities and organizations to promote the integration of traditional contemplative knowledge and modern cognitive sciences. With the same goal, he has developed a training course in lucid dreaming, which he has been teaching throughout Italy since 2018 through courses, seminars, and retreats, and which has recently become a book titled Con gli Occhi aperti. In addition to writing on this subject, he has published contributions on Tibetan Buddhism, Madhyamaka philosophy, and the relationship between Buddhism, posthumanism, and transhumanism.
